We needed two bar stools for a kitchen island and because I still have plenty of oak left I decided to make two simple stools from what was originally 45×28 mm battens. For this project I wanted to try something new so I made a slightly curved seat by gluing together three 4mm plywood sheets, where the bottom (visible) one is poplar.
The design is quite simple with all the pieces being 20x40mm, with a 10mm round over. The challenge here was to properly glue together all the pieces that had a 3 degree slant in all directions, to create a tapered look.
As finish I used Rubio monocoat pure to retain that yellow:ish original oak color.
