I’ve been keeping some small left over transport battens around for a while now, and it turns out they were made from Alder. At the same time we needed some support for a climbing rose we’ve planted next to our pergola. So to put the battens to use I made a small trellis for it to climb to. Alder is not good at withstanding rot, so I applied an ample amount of Selder linseed oil.
